.  One of the most important roles performed by Prevention Specialists is educating the community about substance abuse and building skills among community members and organizations in support of prevention initiatives.  As you saw in earlier course modules, conducting community readiness assessments, needs assessments, and prevention planning requires working closely with community members and organizations.  Educating and building skills in the community is one of the main ways that prevention specialists practice the second component of the Strategic Prevention Framework – Capacity Building.   In this module, we will focus on the specific skills needed to do this effectively.  The contents of this module relate directly to two IC&RC job domains: Education and Service Delivery (Domain 2) and Communication (Domain 3).
