Mentoring program staff has been advised for years that evaluating their programs is something they should do. However, when evaluation is done for broad research purposes, it does not directly benefit local programs. This course focuses on a different approach to evaluation - program performance evaluation - which is designed to directly benefit programs by providing analysis and feedback on program management and operations. Program performance evaluation is based upon the common management practice of performance monitoring, which relies upon the collection and analysis of program data in support of continuous improvement. This course offers a step-by-step approach to conducting program performance evaluation in a way that can be accomplished with or without the assistance of a professional evaluator.
